Creating an Inclusive Workplace

At Redgate, we strive to create a workplace in which everyone can thrive with integrity. We understand that it is not truly possible to achieve and sustain that goal unless the Redgate team and our business partners better reflect the diversity of our broader society. Our team understands that we must take deliberate measures to ensure that everyone in our growing and increasingly diverse organization feels a sense of participation, belonging and community. Building Opportunity and Wealth for People of Color

We’re committed to advancing diversity and inclusion throughout the life cycle of our projects. Redgate has formed a joint venture with Catalyst Ventures Development, Catalyst RCP, which aims to expand wealth and opportunity for people of color through real estate development and investments.

Partnering with Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises

We partner with minority and women’s business enterprises (MBEs and WBEs) in the development, financing, design, construction, operations, leasing, community relations and tenant mix of each project. When we engage diverse partners from the outset, we can ensure our projects represent the interests and needs of the diverse people who occupy our buildings and the surrounding communities.  We are always looking to expand our roster of MBE and WBE partners. Please contact us if you would like to discuss partnering with Redgate on commercial real estate development projects.  We further support equity and inclusion on project teams by establishing platforms where everyone can voice ideas and ensuring all team members have equal access and opportunity to lead meaningful work.

Lifting up our Community

As a real estate investor and advisor, Redgate is in a unique position to strengthen and enhance the diverse communities where we do business. Through collaborative relationships with contractors, consultants, clients and investors, we provide opportunities for a wide range of diverse organizations, including MBEs and WBEs. Additionally, we strive to improve diversity and inclusion across the Greater Boston real estate industry through organizations such as CREW Boston and the Builders of Color Coalition.

Developing Future Leaders

With a history of advancing diversity and inclusion through training and mentoring programs, Redgate supports organizations such as Next One Up (NOU), which aims to transform the lives of young men in Baltimore City through long-term mentoring. We support NOU through board participation, donorship, and mentoring and hiring individuals from the program. As an active member of NAIOP, we support the Commercial Real Estate Success Training (CREST) Program that helps companies attract underrepresented minority students and women to the commercial real estate industry. Through CREST and minority-based programs at colleges and universities, we actively recruit interns and employees to help develop the next generation of commercial real estate leaders.

Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Purpose Statement

From its start, Redgate has strived to create a community in which every individual can learn, grow and thrive. Through teams of talented and passionate people, we pursue our mission to create great places for people to live and work.

We understand that it is not truly possible to achieve and sustain these core values unless the Redgate team, and our business partners, better reflect the diversity of our broader society and we take more deliberate measures to ensure that everyone at a growing and increasingly diverse Redgate will continue to feel a sense of participation, belonging and community.

Our company culture aims to be one of transparency, collaboration, engagement and prosperity.  We recognize that within our industry and society, there exists inequalities in race, gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religion and more- which can create a different experience in life and work.  We therefore must ensure that inclusivity is also part of our culture, and that we extend this into our industry and the communities in which we work.

Our diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work will include:

  • Ensuring alignment in our core beliefs and values
  • Designing and reviewing systems, policies, procedures
  • Positioning and promoting our practices to our clients, projects and partners and the industry at large

We will focus on ensuring a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. We will look for ways for our firm to impact our industry and the communities in which we work. This work represents an opportunity for learning and growing, and we recognize all involved come from different life experiences and are in different places on this journey. This work is not an “initiative” with a defined beginning and end.  It must be and will be a lens through which we view Equity and Inclusion as fundamentally part of Redgate.
